BOOGIE BABIES sessions are about having fun, special time with your very young baby (age from 6 weeks to around 14 months) helping them on their first musical learning journey. It is amazing how much fun they have in the session. It is a great way to bond, form friendships with like minded parents and have fun together. Groups are deliberately kept small and personal, for individual attention (maximum 10 babies). The structured classes encourage early social skills, speech development, and movement as they copy other babies and have FUN!
As well as bouncing, clapping, lots of instruments, parachut
e and some sensory play, we also get up and dance. The session changes every week, although some songs are repeated, repetition being so vital at this age. Each week, it’s a different dance, so it could be line dancing, country dancing, Irish dancing. It’s not strictly come dancing with your baby…it’s about letting your hair down and having fun!
They love it! And they are learning from it! We start with a hello song, and your baby quickly learns what to expect, and then we move on to songs to help their speech, then bouncing and dancing, and then a lullaby and “listening music”. Although they are very young, it is quite amazing how much they learn very quickly, and we finish with a goodbye song, and soon they recognize that we have finished.
Although the sessions are just half an hour long, it’s fast moving and enough for them to keep their attention, and many parents comment on how their little one just falls fast asleep shortly after the class after all that brain
gym activity! Each of the different parts of the session are structured to help your baby’s development in different areas, for example when they face you and watch your mouth movement, it is helping their speech, the bouncing songs will help their rhythm (as will the percussion instruments) and the dancing is extremely important in helping with spatial awareness.
It is recommended to start Jolly Babies as early as possible. They are not too young at 6 weeks because one of their first senses to develop is hearing and rhythm (they have heard your heart beat whilst inside the womb) and so they are ready to learn and it is the best time in their development stage to come along.
